Not a chance Downes starts ahead of Soucek...Downes was playing against FSCB last night, Soucek didn't travel.
Moyes won't give up Soucek's aerial ability in midfield.

Cannot see Paqueta playing before the World cup. I'm sure the injury will then magically disappear.
Palace are a weird side. Sometimes they look amazing and other times hopeless. Just hope it's the latter. Scamacca needs to start and fill his boots.

Yep, this aerial ability seems to trump the ability to pass and control a football and run fast. Just need to get Downes to grow a couple of inches and practice defending headers at corners and set pieces and he will then have a chance of getting selected as a defensive midfielder. If you didn’t know you would think Moyes was a centre half when he played and values that type of player versus one that has a great touch and control and can play at pace.
My sarcasm makes be getting the better of me. ;-).

To keep anything on track in the league, we need wins in these two before the break.
Downes can play as an attacking midfielder if he plays like he did in the week.
But I hope Paqueta is back there.
People get so hung up on the formation or who is a defensive player. What matters is how we pass and play.
We played three at the back and look good against a poor side, Benrahma and Bowen's stength's probably mean we go another way. We also have to acknowledge Palace are not rubbish without being cowed early on.

Feeling pretty positive about the next three games. Would like us to field a similar side in the League Cup to the one in the Conference League and keep the first team largely rested for Leicester. Looking at what Frankfurt did last year in prioritising the Europa League ahd pretty much giving up on the Bundesliga from Christmas, I personally would like us to prioritise winning the Europa Conference League. It’s brought some fun away days, is very winnable (unlike every other competition we’re in) and would keep us in Europe for the following season. A strategy which has worked extremely well for Frankfurt, I’d say.
